Bhagavad Gita 3.37

The restlessness inside — wanting and anger — is often the real obstacle, more than anything outside us.

Bhagavad Gita · Chapter 3, Verse 37

काम एष क्रोध एष रजोगुणसमुद्भवः।
महाशनो महापाप्मा विद्ध्येनमिह वैरिणम्॥

kāma eṣa krodha eṣa rajo-guṇa-samudbhavaḥ
mahāśano mahā-pāpmā viddhy enam iha vairiṇam

Translation

It is desire, it is anger, born of restless passion (rajas) — all-consuming and greatly harmful. Know this to be the enemy here.

हिन्दी भावार्थ

यह काम है, यही क्रोध है, जो रजोगुण से उत्पन्न होता है। यह कभी तृप्त नहीं होता और बड़ा पापी है — इसे ही यहाँ शत्रु जानो।

In simple words Interpretation

The restlessness inside — wanting and anger — is often the real obstacle, more than anything outside us.

Context

Arjuna asks why people act against their own better judgement. Krishna names restless desire and anger as the inner forces at work.

When this may help

When you feel driven by urges you don't fully choose, or anger keeps flaring.

Reflection question

When did wanting or anger last make a decision for you?

A small practice

Notice one urge today. Instead of acting on it, wait two minutes and see what happens to it.
